New to me 55hp

Hello folks. I've recently upgraded my 35hp chrysler for a 55hp yamaha BE 663.
I can't find any helpful info like wiring diagrams and user manuals etc. Google just throws back other search engines that have no hits. Annoying.

Also it's got a 100.1 mix ratio but I've seen people say they run it on 50.1
So. Which Is it? Any and all help gratfully accepted

50/1 will give the shiny internal parts more protection while sitting up

Your local Yamaha shop should be able to get you a Yamaha service manual for that motor

Your model will be designated as a C55XXXX. At least here in the US that is the way it will be written.

According to a 1995 USA Yamaha service manual the gas/oil ratio is 50/1. If you don't have the OM or the SM, what is telling you that it is 100/1?

As noted, your dealer should be able to get you the manuals you need. Here they are for a US version C55ELRR.

Bulletproof motor, I personally love them, we call them the hammerhead .... Def mix it 50:1 .... why are you looking for service manual? Is it not running? This is a very simple motor to work on ....

The yamaha engine is in with these pics. The 100-1 oil mix sticker makes me think it's 100-1 and not 50/55-1. But as I have seen people saying they run on 50-1 I'd love to know why they do it.
Thanks for the manual link but mines 1975-79. Which is why I'm struggling to find a manual or any info. Hence my original questions.

I'm not mechanically minded and a newbie to all this so I like to have a manual on what's what and doing what.
One of my local marine engineers said they were the best motors to get as they are bullet proof. He loves them. He also loves charging me to check it over and service it. I don't like that part! Haha. I bought the engine a couple of days ago and it's been sat around for a couple of years.

Get the manual, remove the upper cowling and study the motor....remove the spark plugs, check the fuel pump, take a good look at everything and learn how it goes together and works. I run a C90 and they are about as simple and bulletproof as any, especially for the great performance.....good luck!...

You are in England. You are asking your questions at a USA website.

The first Yamaha outboard offered here in the states was in 1984. Our data only goes back that far. The C55 was only offered here from 1989 to 1995.

Call Yamaha UK and here from them regarding the availability of any data for your specific model. Contact Us Yamaha Motor UK

The 1:100 sticker by the way does not appear to be a Yamaha sticker. The US versions of the C55 don't show a sticker being applied to the lower cowling. Yamaha usually specifies fuel/oil ratios as 100:1.

A motor designed to be run at 100:1 can be run quite acceptably at 50:1. A motor designed to be run at 50:1 might not last if run at 100:1.
