Well guys i am sorry to tell you but i have decided to stop the restoration on the firbreglass boat and put her up for sale. i have found a 1963 16ft cresliner aluminum that i am going to do instead of teh fibreglass starcraft i have now :( . i will be posting pics once i update my computer with some pics i do have now on my phone.

its an easier rebuild and its going to be on the water sooner than the fibreglass.

I understand your decision. There are pros and cons to each type of boat. I'm a beginner in boating so aluminum made a little more sense to me. I'll probably tackle a glass project someday. just not today!

How bout some pictures!

Congrats, It isn't a Starcraft, and the Crestliner part here isn't as much of a family, but that will be a great boat. I know as I have a 61 Crestliner. Looked similar when I got it 13 or 14 years ago. With a few slight modifications it's the one I use in my profile now. Good luck with it, and I can tell you a lot not to do with it.

ya i know its not a starcraft but it is a tinny and the guys in the crestliner arent as enthuastic as everyone in here so i thought i would post it here also... but yah i am thinking of doing an open bow for some trolling and some bass fishing but i have to see how she sits in the water first .. just might make it a seating area with some bench seats and storage under it.

it does need a new floor but all in all its in way better shape than my 14 fiberglass starcraft i have

Yes Ed, I'm still here, just haven't had a lot of time recently. I finally get to go down and get my Jet back from the gal building the top Saturday. Only been about 6 weeks. I shoulda found another cargo cover.
My Crestliner sat too light in the front, Trim tabs would have helped me. On my deck, I used Red Cedar, but didn't get it tight enough together, and it flexes under the seats. If or when I do it again, I will either use tongue and groove, or plywood. A lot of good ideas on here about putting in a new deck. I'd guess most of us have had to do that. The one in my Starcraft turned out better, it was plywood exterior plywood sealed with 3 coats of epoxy. A lot cheaper than maarine plywood. We're sort of cheap here.

Are you trying to tell me that there are starcraft boats out there that aren't tinnies? I do not believe it!

Sounds like you're in here. Welcome aboard. You gotta sort of watch these guys stho. Next thing you know, you'll have 2 footitus, then a second boat, and third, etc. Be sort of nice to have another Crestliner on board here tho. About 5 years ago, mine looked like the first pic, I put the top on 5 winters ago. I don't have, or want pics of when I bought it. It was ugly. I'm throwin down a challenge to you to see how well yours looks after your first rebuild. Good luck with it.

Yes, mine is a 16 also. I'm not sure on the structural integrity of the bow. Never looked into pulling it. Without relooking at it, I don't think it has the boards under it like my Starcraft does. I'll have to look some day. I put a 30 gal fuel tank up there, and that is where the flotation foam is kept in mine. At present it is not closed cell like you are supposed to use.

I know you're being facetious but I just wanted to make sure you don't accidentally exclude great candidates from your search for your dream tinnie. Keep "Smokercraft, Sylvan, Mirrocraft, Blue Fin, Sea Nymph" etc etc on your radar.
