Hi everyone,

Growing up in the 80s and 90s my family moved up from a 24' Wellcraft to a 30' Sea Ray with a flybridge to eventually a 34' Silverton. I swore that I would never get that overboard chasing the black hole of money that is boats, but I left it open to get something small that had already depreciated.

As I went from 25-35 years old I was more interested in bikes than boats, having everything from a 1977 Yamaha RD400, 06 Suzuki SV650S, and recently a 2008 Kawasaki ZX10R.

However, now that I have a 5 and a 2yo, I started to feel guilty leaving them on nice days to go for a ride, so I sold the bike and we just bought a 1996 Sea Ray 175 (18') in great shape. Now everyone can enjoy the nice days and not just me. I didn't want to sell the bike, but for now we can only afford one toy.

I look forward to asking you guys lots of questions as to boat ownership is new to me and I fully confess my ignorance.

Sean

Haha, sure. There's not really much to see, just a humble 18' bowrider. First though, here's what I sold to get it:

And here it is. I was amazed at the shape of the engine for a 96 and that's what sold it for me.

As you can see (at least I thought) there isn't really anything wrong with it. No damage or anything like that, and it's about 90% clean. After this long weekend and a good thorough cleaning it'll be 100%.

Playoffs !!!!!! YYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAA :D You just reminded me.
Going to have to pick another team though as my team will once again not be there.
However I digress, welcome aboard Petamocto, your boat will bring your family endless and priceless times. Another bike can come later if you still feel the need. :D

lol.....i have been following all year.

i see the nucks as a third rounder at best......even if they do pull a miracle and win the presidents.

did i just hijack?  :p

as a bunch of canadians...... i dont think threads can be hijacked by hockey talk ;)

hmmm.......... ill submit the questions to the canadians before i whip up stairs in the mods lounge (we just got 2 ply tissue added !) and ask for a change in the hijack definition ! :D

Welcome Petamocto. Believe me, as others have said, once you see the happy faces your family will have while out on the boat the thoughts of your bike will vanish. And the memories will be priceless. By the way, I spent a bit of time in Gagetown out your way. Beautiful area.

Welcome aboard, Sean. You made the right decision ... not so much about bikes and boats, more about kids. In 10 or 15 years, the whole scope will change and the kids can bike or boat with you depending on what y'all really like to do.

For now, hope everyone enjoys the boat. Hope ya' enjoy your kids even more.

Yes, welcome Sean from the other side of the country.
Nice looking boat!
(you could probably fit a little yz 100cc dirtbike in between the seats, just saying. ;) :D )

And who said playoff hockey, time to get that old post count up again:p

You just reminded me.

Small world, Belle River, huh? I spent my first 20 years in Tilbury (boating out of Luken Marina at Lighthouse Cove) and then five more in Windsor. I went to St Clair College, too.

I spent a whole lot of time boating by Belle River on our way to Windsor or Detroit to eat at the Roostertail. Used to swim at Grassy Island pretty much every weekend, too.

Are you talking about the base (usually the only reason for people to be in Gagetown)? Because that's where I am too, but I didn't want to put Oromocto on my location and not have anyone know what I was talking about.

That's why my name here is Petamocto, though, Petawawa + Oromocto.

Congrats on the sweet boat. Probably a very good trade-off, bike for boat. Family will love being able to do activity together!

PLAY-OFFS! pLAY-OFFS! Did somebody say play-offs? Go Pens!

Yes the base. Did a couple of TD tours out there in the late 70's and early 80's.
