Hello everyone from central CT. I just got a free 1985 four winns santara 210. From 10 feet away it looks great, but the inside is trashed. It was uncovered for the last year and fully exposed. I plan to pull the deck and check out the stringers this spring. Ill also be changing the engine bed to take a small block v8 in exchange for the 4 cylinder that was kept by the previous owner along with the outddrive. Big project, but with the completion of my last major project I was in need of something else.

Re: New to the forum

Today i went and cleaned all the leaves out and checked out the interior pieces. Im somewhat happy to find that the seat foam and bases are all good. Also the original vinyl is untorn and complete although brittle. I should be able to use it to make templates for new covers. As for rot, i found that the deck above the fuel tank was not glassed and is rotted badly. Also the hatch forward of it is toast. Im worried about what i might find under the molded section of the floor at the bow. The fiberglass is bowing upwards and i can see some wood under it. It doesnt appear to be badly rotted, but its a sign that something is wrong.
The exposed sections of the stringers in the engine bed were glassed and preserved very well, as is the transom. I did find it interesting that there are 2 seemingly extra blocks protruding from the stringers in the engine bed that I seriously hope are motor mount locations. I can see where the 4 cylinder was mounted due to several holes in a fiberglass covered beam running across the two inner stringers. Peeking around the fuel tank i can see quite a bit of dark rotted wood, but there is no clear view of the stringers without pulling the rotted stuff out.
If anyone has a pic of a V8 engine bed i would be very greatful.

sound like you have a major job. starting with separating the hull and cap remove the rubber in the rub rail, remove screws of rivets, and separate, red line in picture.
