I have a alpha one gen one that needs rebuilt. I have seen the drives from companys that are made in china and put together in the USA, With a three year no fault waranty. I myself would rather have mine rebuilt or buy a rebuilt drive from one that was made by Mercruiser. I live in northern Indiana, Dose anyone know of a company that will do this thanks.
I know some will wounder why i need this work done it has bad wear on the gears rust on the bearings and races,and play in the shafts.Its a alpha one gen one 1.84r 0b492950

Welcome to IBOATS.

I'd say if you were looking for something directly from Merc. you should call or visit your local Merc. dealer and see what they say.

If nothing local, here's their site that has a search to find one.

Advantages Over Aftermarket | Mercury Marine

These guys have certified pre-owned Merc. stuff but may need to call them about gen1 availability as the site only shows gen2 and Bravo cpo.

Howdy, Welcome Aboard!

There's several companies (online) that will do this.

You have several choices that include taking the whole boat to any Mercruiser dealer and having them do it, removing the drive and taking it to them, having them do the actual rebuild or obtaining a "reman" drive.

If there's someplace that can rebuild your drive locally, you can remove it yourself and haul it over to them or you can use one of the SEVERAL rebuild companies around the country to rebuild or exchange it for you. (a google search will reveal them)

You can also just get out your credit card and order a new SEI drive from any dealer that sells Sterndrive Engr drives around the country.

And yes, you get a 3 year warranty.......it will be far less expensive than a rebuild or a REMAN ......and you'll NOT get that good a warranty from ANYONE that rebuilds your drive. (Even Mercury)

There are many people here on iBoats and other sites that have been COMPLETELY happy with their new SEI drives.
