New to trolling motor

Hello fellow boaters, I have a 16' aluminum fishing boat and I'm interested in purchasing an electric trolling motor. I have no idea what to get, it is going to be a transom mounted motor, but I do not what thrust I need or length to get. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

WIth a lightweight tinny you can use almost any electric. I'd aim at a 45 or 55 lb thrust unit. Look on CL and you can find used ones very inexpensive. I've seen 55Lb Minkotas for under $60. Grab one and try it for a bit. That will teach you a lot more than recommendation here. There are a lot of other factors, starting with how much $$, how many batteries, how fast you want to go for how long. In the end, start with something and you'll find your own needs and be able to match them.
