Hi,
I have a problem with my 2015 Tohatsu 90hp and was hoping to find an easy fix before I have to take it to the dealer. First, there is a clattering sound when running the engine at idle "trolling" speed. Its definitely not a lower unit sound, it sounds like plastic vibrating somewhere but I cant find it and it's driving me nuts! In neutral or when I speed up to just above trolling speed the sound goes away.

Next there is a periodic beep and battery light when im going over waves. Interestingly it doesn't appear that the battery light is supposed to be audible but mine definetly is. It did this before but I tightened the battery posts and the problem went away. It seems to do it now even with the nuts tightened on the post.

Finally, after trolling for some time, if I idle up to plane, the engine hesitates or bogs down for a second and then picks back up. I'm not sure which prop I have but I'm getting about 5200 rpm wot with a load.

Don't even think of touching anything, take it back to the dealer for warranty work first or you may not be covered for any of it.

Right I just didn't know if it was maybe a bad battery or prop wrong size or something like that.

Probably cowl's lip is vibrating against base ? 2 strokes OB's don't like idling for extended time periods, plug tip fouls a bit due to not being at it's correct working temp, when throtttling hesitates untill temp rises again and engine works ok throughout the whole throttle range. My 2 strokes OB does same, less when plugs are brand new, have learned to live with that issue...

Happy Boating

Thanks guys. Any idea why the battery light is constantly coming on? I have the right battery, the light is coming on basically every time I go over a wave
