Got an air hammer/chisel today and the instructions say to put a few drops of Pneumatic Tool Oil in the air inlet before using. I'm all out of Pneumatic Tool Oil and wonder what oil might be a reasonable substitute. Any ideas?

Re: New Tool

I use a 3in1 oil. Not saying its correct but I have never had a air tool fail in about 10 years.

Most anything oily will work. I usually use deep creep or transmission fluid.

"...but why not just go down and get some its cheep."

Right now I have 30W oil, 5W30 oil, 10W40 oil, TC-W3 oil, 2-cycle oil, cutting oil, jack oil, 3-in-1 oil, compressor oil, differential lube, gun oil, reel oil, ATF, brake fluid, powersteering fluid, outboard gearcase oil, etc. I thought, surely I have something that might work without adding further to the inventory.

I've ben using 50:1 oil in air tools for years. My preference is Marvel Mystery Oil,but I don't use these tools a whole lot.so I use what I got.

Re: New Tool

I give them a shot of fogging oil. Seems to work pretty good for that and other long term oiling needs...
