I am considering purchasing a 2010 TRACKER Pro Team 17 TX w/50 ELPT FourStroke EFI and Trailer. Total Cost, not including state tax and fees, is $13,320 as follows:

Boat Package: $12,495
Prep: 325
Freight: 500

Total $13,320

Is this a good price?

What is meant by Prep of $325? What is done to prep the boat/trailer?

Would like to have comments, pro and con, concerning the 175 TX?

Motor is too small. I believe this boat is rated for 75 hp. 70% of max. is recommended minimum. Take the optional 60hp or bigger

Thanks.

The motor is likely a Merc with the initials ELPT or ELPTO after the hp rating. These letters stand for electric start, long shaft, power trim, ..oil injected.

Tracker almost always under powers their boats which is why they have a long list of power upgrades. 50 is too small for that boat.

That boat is 840#.
Max rated hp is 50.

It should be fine with the 50.

That is the price. Usually no haggling allowed at a Tracker dealership.

What is prepped? don't know what is done at the dealer, or at the factory, but someone has to unload the rig, put on the tires, hook up the motor, controls, trolling motor, batteries. Doesn't really matter, you can't get out of paying it, unless the sales manager is really hurting for a sale.

At our local BassPro, I imagine the "prep" is them shoveling the snow out of it that's been sitting in the uncovered boat all winter.

Re: New Tracker Boat??

The following is the description straight off of the website for tracker:

2010 TRACKER Pro Team? 175 TXW w/ 50 ELPTO TwoStroke and Trailer

The ELPTO lets you know it is electric start, long shaft, power trim and oil injected. That is the standard motor for that boat. However, that boat is rated for a 90hp motor and weighs 990 pounds. Way underpowered. I would go with at least the at least the 60hp they offer as an upgrade. But, that is still only 67% of rated power. I would try to get them to go larger. But, that is just me. I have driven a boat that size with a 60hp and it felt underpowered to me.

The 175 txw is not the same as the 17 tx, different boats.
One is 16' 3" the other is 17'7".

With the price he quoted with the 4 stroke efi, I believe he is looking at the 17 tx, which is max rated for 50 hp.

Do a search on Tracker welds first! After reading about them I went with Lund.

Just my two cents.

And our Tracker riveted boat isn't so great either. We bought it last year and still haven't found the leak.

We also have a 16' Lund (1979 model); it's still perfectly tight, even after sitting outside most of its life.

In his other post, he referencing a 175 TXW. I just noticed in this post he said 17 TX. I posted in this post what I posted in the other. My bad! :)
