After giving it a lot of thought over the last 6 months I have decided to go with a new trailer for my 29 foot Powerquest. I was originally going to upgrade my 7,000 trailer by going with 5.200 pound axles, new 12,500 pound actualor and 16 inch tires. It turned out because of a trade in of my old trailer to a new 10,500 pound capacity trailer with 16 inch tires was only going to cost me an additional $800 more for the new trailer instead of going with the upgrade of the old trailer. When I got the new trailer I noticed the clearance between the inside top of the fender and the top of the 16 inch tires was only about 3/4 inch clearance. I brought my trailer and boat home and did not notice any rubbing. I don't feel comfortable with only 3/4 of an inch clearance so I need to raise the clearance by adjusting the venders. What is considered a good clearance between the tire and fender to prevent any rubbing. I was very surprised it did not rub with only 3/4 of an inch clearance on the ride home.

Ayuh,.... It sounds like 3/4" is Plenty for yer application,....

You could experiment by puttin' an axle jack under 1 of the spring perches, 'n start jackin',....
If the other tire on that side comes off the ground, Before the tire yer jackin' hits the fender,...
It Can't hit the fender,...

I ended up bringing back the trailer to the manufacturer and they raised the fenders so now I have about 2 inches of clearance. Just wondering how much up and down movement I get with my torsion axles while traveling down the road?
