Can anyone please tell me what kind of wiring comes with a brand new trolling motor? It's a 75 lb thrust 24 volt Motor Guide. Does it come with a plug or just the bare wires?

My Minn Kota came with bare wires (it's eight years old)...I added the plug to it.

Most trollers come with ring terminals on the end of the power cable. If your boat has a receptacle that accepts a troller plug you will need to buy and install the mating plug on the cable after cutting off the ring terminals. If there is no receptacle in your boat and the batteries are within reach of the cable you can connect the troller wires to the threaded posts on the battery -- making sure you connect the positive lead to a circuit breaker.

As Silvertip said, my new Minn Kota just came with ring terminals suiting for install on the 1/4" terminals of a deep cell battery.
I removed mine and put a plug on it for quick removal.
I used Napa part # NW 740234. Easy to make up, includes both ends and only cost $15. It's rated at 50 amps. They do make them larger if you need them too.
