New type exhaust bellows for OMC 4.3L

I have the type with slits in the bellow. Here is my question. Isnt the bellow how water and exhaust gases get to the prop? My bellow is letting all the water out thru the slits which makes sense to me as there are slits. Any one know if this is bad or ok to let run like this.

I have a 4.3l omc with this type bellows.Slits in bottom.Have no problem with it.

mine came factory w/out slits. I just replaced mine and the replacement part has slits. It seems to me that idle w/muffs the water exits these slits but I was told that at higher rpm the exhaust exits the prop

ok cool I thought that I had a problem. But by design I guess they should be leaking water.
