i saw an add in a magazine and followed it with a trip to west marine. checked out a new product made by dolphinite. it's a clear bottom paint. it advertises to be completely clear, super high gloss finish, ablative, great anti-fouling properties, and improves speed and fuel economy. states that no sanding is necessary prior to application/just de-wax and paint. it's also pricey- $220/gal (but on sale for $200). sounds like a great product, any opinions/ideas??? i plan to take a chance this spring with it.

Re: new type of bottom paint?

i checked out their website- www.dolphinite.com. the stuff really sounds amazing. brand new in june 2002, won all kinds of awards. they sell it for $260/gal on their site, west marine has it on sale for $200 until 16 march. a clear bottom paint that protects from biologics, increases speed, and saves fuel. wow if it works. i think i found my solution for the season. i also like the fact that they DON'T recommend sanding, and say it easily comes off with stripper.
