New Volvo Penta fuel pump too hot??

I just installed a new complete Volvo fuel pump assembly on my 2006 5.7Gi (50 hours on the engine). I primed the fuel filter and boat started right up and idles fine. Being hyper sensitive I have been focusing on the pump furthest from the fuel filter (high pressure one?) because that was the one where the whine came from and used to get so hot could fry eggs on. If I let it idle (or a little above) for a few minutes (on muffs) it appears the new pump get pretty hot but not nearly as bad as the one I removed. If I grab the top of the pump with my hands it is almost what I would consider too hot to be comfortable. The other pump is barely warm.

Question is... Before I start looking for problems how hot is this pump supposed to get? Is it normal under idle hooked to muffs to heat up that much? The upper part of the pump near the hose outlet is noticeably 'hotter' than the lower part. Should also note that the reservoir is cool and can feel the inlet and outlet water cooling lines are cool to the touch. So It appears the fuel cooling is ok.

All my boating friends have Merc so I'm kinda stuck. I've read a hundred posts on fuel pump problems but not one commemted about how warm/hot a normal running pump should get...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I did more research and found that the actual pump temperature tops out at 142deg at idle after a few minutes on the muffs (with more than ample water supply pressure). The water cooling lines are flowing thru the pump and returning nicely. The vacuum line appears to be fine too. I tested the anti siphon valve and that appears to be functioning properly. I even bypassed the tank to make extra sure there were no restrictions, no better results. The final check I did was to put a clear section of hose on the gas inlet and that showed solid flow, no visible air bubbles.

So the question still remains if anyone knows the answer, is the pump running too hot? I'm tempted to launch it but don't want to take a chance overheating the pump and get stranded... Not sure if in real life running mode all will be magically better. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
