I put a new pump in my old motor, that I am not using anymore, I want to take it out and put it in my new motor, I think their the same, old is 1980 115 Johnson new is 1984 115hp Johnson, I put in a OEM pump kit, housing and everything. One thing I was concerned about was that the new housing vs the old one, the old one had a seal in the top of it that sealed around the drive shaft I guess?? And the new housing didn't?? is this okay? It worked fine for the 1 hour run time it had. Hopefully the gasket comes out okay.

Is it worth tearing down the orginal for the cost of the pump kit.

Well, my time is free. And the pump kit cost me $120, so Id say its worth it. I'd hate to leave it in there for the garbage. If it was like $50, I wouldn't worry about it.

It must have been a chrome kit, I guess for that amount I would swap them out also.

I know. My local Stealer Dealer is outrageous, but its typical in Canada to pay way more then you guys.

About the seal question though?? Do you know?
