New with Volvo Penta 5.7 GSI

I won't make this long. I have been presented with a great deal on a 2000 VP 5.7 GSI S/N 4012026720. My question I have a VP SX-M 1-60 Gear Ratio drive on my boat will I have issue with this motor and drive?

I know you are keeping it short, but a clue as to what boat and what engine you are replacing might help. But if all you want to know is will the drive handle the power the answer is yes.
But a visit to the prop section of the forum with some details might give you a clue as to what you should be using with your SX-M.

Yea Volvo's can handle the power.
If your trying to change drives?

No I want to keep the VP SX. Here's my problem i am getting such a GREAT deal on this 5.7 gsi just waiting for the hammer to fall.

The motor i am replacing is a vp 5.0.

This will be my first time with EFI and closed loop cooling any advice on this?

Going to start it on the bench. Going to jumper 5 to 6 for Ign pwr to pin7 for start and then water and gas.

I have been through all the WD's and from what i can tell this will still work with EFI. I have done this in the past with MerCruiser's (Carb) and had no issues. Any advice is greatly appreacated.

I want to keep it short but here's the S/N of the 5.7 GSI 4012026720.

Are you trying to say you had a merc setup now you are going to run a volvo setup...Or are you going from one model volvo to another..If from volvo to volvo post the yr's and model number;s and the iden number;s on the ecm there are more than a few of them,

If you do a search for "ratio" you will find some posts that show the drive ratios relevant to engine size/HP.

One of the wiser members here had posted the exact ratio for pretty much every SX drive, and what engines they were compatible with.

I saw one just last week.....and you might want to search "engine swap" or "drive swap" and see what you find as well.
