I need to put new wood on the trailer. What is the best wood for the job and I need to know the best way to keep the carpet from comming off.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Pressure treated wood from your local Lowes or Home Depot. I soak mine down good with a sealant also. Stainless steel staples or screws to hold the carpet on...;)
Should last a long time..

Ditto above.
I have had good luck using hot dip galvanized roofing nails (big flat head) out last the carpet anyways.
Just be gentle as possible hammering them in as to not hammer the galvan off the nail heads.

Make sure you put the nails or staples in the underside only on the bunks. I've seen some nasty gouges in boats from people not using this common sense.

Pick up some PL Construction adhesive from lowes while your at it... Be sure to get the kind designed for wet & frozen lumber, run a heavy bead down the length of your board then spread it with a scrap of wood or cardboard, apply your carpet with staples on the bottom or whatever pleases you, it cures quickly so you wont have to worry about your carpet getting ripped or coming loose!

As stated above use stainless steel nails or screws and pressure treated (salt wood lumber). carpet should be marine density type
