That will have a charging circuit in it, but not a very strong one. People (like waterskiers) that do a lot of short distance runs with alot of starting and stopping often find that they need to suppliment the charging with a charger before and/or after use.<br /><br />You should check to see if it is charging your battery. If you connect a voltmeter to the battery, you should see voltage rise as RPMs increase. That motor won't have a regulator on it, but it will have a rectifier. If that goes bad, you won't charge. Other things could cause a no-charge situation, but that is the most common. They usually fail due to poor battery connections.
