I am n the process of buying the first family boat (Wife, Myself, 4 year old, baby due in Feb) and I am trying to decide between a Rinker or a Chaparral 210...any thoughts? The price is only a few thousand dollars difference so I am looking for anyone's thoughts

THanks!

Err, what years are these boats? What model is the Rinker? Same motor in both? There are a whole lot of things that can affect boat value. More details please ...

Re: Newbie deciding between Rinker & Chaparral

Sorry for not putting more info (i am used to my wife being able to read my mind:D)

Both are 2007, Rinker is a Captive 226 and the Chap is a 210 SSI...the Chap is a bit shorter, both engines are about the same 5.0 Fuel Injected.

I guess I am looking for overall quality. From what I hear, Rinker is viewed as a "good quality for the $$$" boat, where Chap is a bit more expensive, but do not has some drawbacks such as any wood on the boat....I realize that boat brand can be very personal and opinionated, but just looking for feedback.

Thanks!

I'm just a little bit bias. :D But I would go with the Chap.

I would prefer the Chap too. But I could be talked out of the Chap if it happened that my local dealer was a jerk. If you like the Chap, also have a look at Crownline and Monterey. Both of those should be priced under Chap, though more than Rinker.
