I just bought my first boat. it didn't come with a manual, I can't find one online yet. I am hoping someone here know where I can go to order one.
Here is my question: Under the ignition switch are two lights. One is green, the other red. While taking it on my first run, at about 6200 rpm, The red light flashed a bit, so I backed off on it. it never flashed again. Boathouse said it was given an oil change. it's a 50 HP Honda four stroke outboard. I had an additional bit of oddity that makes me think someone may have attempted installing the radio themselves and caused an issue. When I first went out I turned on the radio. It worked great. There is a fish finder (hummingbird) which I couldn't figure out how to turn on. I turned on an ACC switch ont he dashboard figuring that may be why. As soon as I did that, the radio cut off. I hit the circuit breakers, but never could get the radio to come on. Also, the horn doesn't beep, it 'meeps' like a 1/10th of a second real faint 'meep.' My thoughts are that since the radio worked with the ACC switch being turned off, maybe the radio was hard wired into a terminal block or something? Haven't a clue, haven't even ha a chance to start looking. I am ALL EARS for any advice. (I am also SOO excited to have my first boat).

Without troubleshooting, not even a hint at what to tell you about your issues, but I can tell you that Honda BF50 owners manuals are easy to find/download, most years are the same, and they'll have the info you're after regarding the red and green lights - and a lot of other info worth going over.

Thank-You. I found a printed manual for sale here:
https://www.iboats.com/shop/seloc-honda-outboards-2-225hp-2002-2014-repair-manual-1-4-cyl-v6.html

And free to download from Honda here:

(My Friend found the last one)
You just need to know your serial number.
He also found a diagram that show what the two lights are. The one in question was an overheating light The Boathouse I purchased it from is going to see if the hole the water comes out is clogged, or if the water pump needs to be replaced.
As far as my electrical woes, I finally found the key to the glove box in a cup holder, which uncovered a pack of 20 amp fuses. So apparently not only does it have circuit breakers at each switch but also fuses. I crawled into the space under the steering wheel/gauges/switches, but didn't find a fuse box. The Boathouse said 'it's in the helm' but that didn't help me find it. :) Anyone have a slightly better description as to where the fuse box may be?
Thanks again folks!

with any new to you boat. assume that no maintenance has been done and start fresh

replace the raw water pump
replace the plugs
do all fluid changes
lube all lube points

as for boat manuals, they do not exist

as for fuse block, it may not exist. it may be a row of circuit breakers. each manufacturer is different in what they do.

Don't worry about the serial numbers. The engines are mostly the same from the early 90's to 2003 (or so). Then the carb chokes were changed slightly (to an "enrichening device"), and in 2008 (or so) they went with fuel injection. Other than that, the engines (35-60hp) remain basically unchanged.
