Just bought a 72 Glastron CV-16SS. Has a 4 cyl. Volvo Penta B-20 1000006. My question is I'm trying to take prop off. But it has this what I will call a nose cone that has a hole in it that goes straight thru close to tip of cone. Then goes down to the inside of prop and has 3 slots in the prop where this nose cone base can be seen. How do I get that darn thing off before taking prop off. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Here's how Merc did it back then. The nose cone had a hole in it to stick a large screwdriver through for leverage when it was ready to be removed. Where the cone met the prop was a thin disc with ears on it that meshed with slots in the cone. You take that large screwdriver and push the tabs toward the prop and once you get them all pushed down, clear of the slots in the cone, block the prop with a 2x4 board between the AV plate and the prop and unscrew it ccw. I have seen the Volvo but never took one off. The process has to be similar as you have nothing to get ahold of otherwise.

Texasmark that sound about right. Then Merc when to the same type eared washer, but bent them in towards the prop slots. And you had to pry those bent ears out to be able to remove the prop nut. I took an old channel lock pliers and ground the one side down leaving only a little notch at the very end of the top jaw. I could then use that little notch to pull the bent ears out really easy and remove the prop...still have that channel lock pliers yet too...

After awhile I got tired of bending all them each time as I had 2 props I rotated depending upon function. So I just bent in a few and as it turned out, Merc only has 3 at a time to connect now.
