Hello,
I'm new to boating. My wife and I got a great deal on 1988 Four Winns 160 Freedom about a month ago and have fallen in love with boating. The Boat has 130 HP OMC Cobra 3.0 motor, with a 14" x 13 prop. It comes out of the hole great, and plains very quickly, but of course at 4300-4500 RPM's will only do about 20 to 25 MPH. We don't ski behind it, but do pull our kids on a tube. I would like to get it to go faster for just cruising though. I was thinking of going with a 14x19 prop. Do you all think that would be a good choice?

Thanks!
Mark

Re: Newbie prop question

Is that 4300-4500 max throttle?
This is very important to know, because if it is, a 19P will drop your RPM over 1000 and #1, you'll have a really tough time getting on plane and #2, it's very hard on the engine to pull that hard.
