I bought this 120 hp force 1994 to use for parts for a older chrysler 120 was told when I got it that it overheated and had no compression on 2 cylnders. this is all true now I am no boat mech. but have worked on tonns of car engines so curiosity got me and I removed the head and exhaust plate the spark plugs were wet and lots of water appeared inside but under closer inspection the head gasket was broken on two cylinders. is it worth trying to put this motor back on the water the pistons look good no burns or scoring the walls look fine a bit of rust where there was water but when i put my hand over the piston I can barely hold the air back by just turning the flywheel by hand also the steel plate (exhaust plate) is warped really bad does anyone think this motor will go again or should I just ditch the powerhead and put my old chrysler on it chrysler leg is shot thats why i got this one. I think the guy I got this from got ripped at the shop as the got him to just by a new engine 10 grand worth. any thought would be helpful

I would say that it is definitely worth the effort to try and bring back the 1994 120 HP Force. Especially if the cylinder walls look good. Soak the pistons and cylinder walls with some WD-40 or similar product to remove the rust. Check to see if the rings are froze up in the piston groves. You should be able to see the rings through the exhaust ports in the exhaust cavity. If any carbon build up in the ring groves, Seafoam or Deep Creep should dissolve it. Change the water pump impeller and thermostat just to be sure.

Warped exhaust plate is normal. You can replace it but eventually it'll probably warp again. I fabricated one out of .055in thick stainless steel sheet and it seems to be holding up better than the standard one which is about .030in thick. The stainless steel is a pain to work with though. Tough to cut and drill.

Agree wholeheartedly! If the cylinders are not scored and the pistons are not damaged. That engine will very likely run very well with just a bit of care and a new head gasket. --Of course, a new water pump impeller is a given.

What year is your Chrysler? I have a couple of midlegs of various years not being used. Send me a private message with the year and your email and i will send photos.

OK thanks bought a new gasket compression is awsome just one last bit of info needed the guy I bought this motor from kept his controls can I use the chrysler controls? Also do you have a wiring diagram for where to connect the wires as it was taken off the boat so there is nothing running to the engine but under the cover where the control cable would go there are a couple of wires that are not attached. if anyone can help with this that would be great.
