1985 Evinrude 30HP 2 Cycle
The casing has a sticker above the fuel line connection that states 100:1
I have read all over the forum that 50:1 is the correct mixture.
Could that have changed since my Motor manufactured?
Should I Continue with the 100:1?
Or should I go to the 50:1....

I would run it at 50:1 rather than 100:1. Extra oil could foul your plugs at the worse, but if you run that motor at WOT it would help burn the oil off the plugs and add some Sea Foam too at 1 oz./gal. Don't trust the oils that claim you can use less oil because they are "better" oils with more additives in them now-a-days.

No matter what I run 50:1 in everything .sleds, boat, chain saws, I don't trust oil injection rather have to much then not enough.dont feel like having to replace a moter in any of them

Evinrude / Johnson issued a service bulletin saying to run 50:1 and remove the sticker.

Just more proof that lubrication in outboards is not well understood.----Run that motor on 50:1 mix.-----And no it will not foul plugs at 50:1.----Fouling of plugs is another item that is a mystery to some folks.

Sorry, I guess it was a mystery to me LOL. Seafoam still a good idea, correct?

The engine makers sell their own carbon cleansers, which I prefer over SeaFoam any day of the week

As for the 100:1, the engine ran fine at that ratio, plenty of lubrication if the engine was run every day or two. Short and long term storage was where the 100:1 failed. Too little residual oil on bearings to protect against corrosion
