Looking to finally purchase a boat. It will be the first boat we have owned. 2 questions, how does Larson and Crownline compare? and can you negotiate with the dealer (just like cars)? Is their a way to find out the invoice price or what might be considered a "good deal"?<br /><br />Thanks in advance for any help.

I can't speak to the other, but Larson is made by Genmar (same as Glastron) and has a good overall rep.<br /><br />Yes, there is *some* wiggle room. Boat shows often have great deals too.<br /><br />-W

I don't know if my research is 100% correct but to the best of my knowledge MSRP is about 30% over dealer cost (prep and shipping are additional). Boat purchases are not like car purchases but you should be able to get at least 15% off MSRP. I have seen better at dealer sales, in-house boat shows and regular boat shows. I'd shoot for at least 15% walking into a dealer showroom, more at a sale or boat show. You can probably do better if you are a savvy negotiator. Pick up this book, it's well worth the investment.<br /><br />Good luck.

I like Crownline better than Larson. But Crownline usually costs more too. What size and type of boat are you looking at? This does make a difference. As no builder hits a home run with every model in his lineup. I am looking at the 03 or 04 Larson 210 LXI vs. the Crownline 202BR. Working with dealer on both models of the Larson, to get a better deal.

Both of those are popular boats. Others at about that same level in the market are by Chaparral, Ebbtide, Four Winns, Monterey, and Regal. Playing prices of different boats off each other is always a good strategy.
