Hello to everyone on iboats. Yet another newbie looking for free answers....
First a little detail. I bought an old fiberglass 14-footer three years ago and have slowly worked towards getting it useful. It has a Johnson Super Seahorse 40hp, RK-28B, 1966. I have no idea what the boat is since the top half of the USCG plate is broken off. Perhaps someday I can post pics and see if anyone here can id it. But for now I'm just trying to get in the water. Got a long way to go, including rewireing the motor, steering system (wanna upgrade to teleflex instead of the old 'clothesline'), and carpet. But I'm determined
So now for the Q's... I just put new points and condensors on the motor. The coils looked great, so they stayed. Tedious, but done. I have the repair manuel on cd-rom, first thing I bought, LOTS of help! So, the manuel calls for 1200-1260 inch pounds torque on the flywheel nut. My in/lb wrench only goes to 960. Can someone translate in/lbs-to-foot/lbs for me so I can use a 1/2" drive wrench, or should I go find another wrench?
I have gleened much useful info from this forum, hopeful I can contribute as well. Thanks to all.....
