Hello Everyone,

This will be our first full season with our boat (a Hurricane sd 217). Got it to the marina in Sept. and out in Oct. of last year. This year it will be in a marina all season on the great lakes.

I have west marines catalog which must have 20 pages of cleaners, waxes, etc. to choose from which doesn't help a novice like myself.

Any suggests as to what I need would very much be appreciated.

Thanks,
Paul Bolden

I used a 3M marine product with a high speed buffer and that worked pretty good. I would show you a picture but I havnt learned how to post those yet. I have to do a acid wash and wax on the bottom if spring ever gets here. I will then be doing the same thing you are and searching for the best product.

Here we go -
light oxidation removal - 3M
wax - Treswax or Collinite
forget anything you hear about "one step" or "easy finish" if you buff out your boat in the spring using a mild rubbing compound then wax w/ 2 coats treswax, it'll last all year.

I used the Meguiars 3 step last year, the compound/oxidation remover, polish and wax. The boat looked good and held up alright.

This year I am wet sanding and buffing the top sides, and will use the same products.

All applied with my dual action, not by hand.

Cleaners I use the Ducky line right now, for post retrieve washdown and boat baths at home every week, not sure about the interior since my wife does it she has something or other she likes and I guess its some kind of secret to her. I use Frenzy wax on the advice of a friend who has the best looking 100% black Crownline I have ever seen, yeah I agree he must be nuts to have a 100% black boat but I got to tell you, you can do your hair in the finish!!

I like Spray 9 for interior cleaning and 303 Protectant for protection.

Haven't really had to do anything to the outside of the boat yet.
