Hi everyone, I just purchased the Glastron V197 with a 302 engine. It's in real good shape but the motor popped a freeze plug. I was wondering if you all could give me any pointers on how to check the engine once I've replaced the plug. Can I put the prop in a tup of water and start the engine to check it out? I rebuild muscle cars and don't know alot about boats. I need to see if the block is cracked.
The previous owner said that it ran like a scalded dog last year and that it was winterized. He's not sure why the plug blew. It was the first time it was started this year though. The floor and transom are solid, I just need to re-upholster the bow seats. I will be the third owner and this boat was well cared for. The hull is real nice with just the usual fading of paint. I think I stole it for only $250.00.
What are your opinions of this model of boat and any pointers you could give would be greatly appreciated!!!hskerprid
