I just got this old boat with a Evinrude 40 Hp Big Twin motor i think 63 model. I install a new coil and spark plugs to get the motor to run in a barrel. Went to the lake this weekend to try it out. The prop hub was spun, i replase the prop and got a days happy boating with my son. Today with me on a tube behined the boat the motor starts to "hit logs" For the rest of the day running WOT or under load it will get this bump. Can it be the dog clutch or can a prop have this effect. Can i swop the clutch arrownd to run foward on the less worn revirse. I hope this makes sense as my english stinks.

The prop won't act like that. I assume you have a remote control motor there. Try disconnecting the shift cable and shift the motor by hand at the lever on the motor. If that works then maybe a simple cable adjustment will cure it.

I did play with the remote cable ajuster and i think that it jerk less. What about swopping components around in that lower end.<br />Thanks for the reply.
