Hello
I am not blind but I just can not find any #s that correspond to other thread I see. i.e.; 225D with 270 outdrive.
I have a 1985 25' Bayliner with a 225D 5.0Lg Gas Volvo Penta (GM305)
This is the tag on the outdrive casing port side. The only other thing I see is a list of Patent #'s.

I also have a 1986 27' Bayliner with a 5.7Lg Gas Volvo Penta (GM350)
with this tag AQ260B Bayham-20130912-00144.jpg
So for this one it would be a 260 outdrive and from what I have read and the B is a minor age and prop rating?
And even though it is a 270 not all 270 would fit because they will have different gear ratio's depending on the engine size it was born with. Great! Gotta love this boat stuff.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... That tag is on the motor's block flange, 'n it means it's a 260 hp motor,...

Nothin to do with yer 270 drive,....

Ok Thanks But How do I determine what drive is on each boat?
from what I have read in other strings likely a 270, 275, 280 or 290

Gear ratios can be changed in drives. There should be a tag outside near the top of the drive, easier to see if drive is lowered. Might have the ratio on it too.

Thanks Walt I see 4 holes where a tag must have been on a cover back top. But easily visable stading at the back of the boat looking at the drive. I guess there is nothing right in the casting? One mechanic told me to turn the main shaft. If the propeller shaft turns one turn to the main shaft it's for an 8 Cylinder. If it turns 1.25= 6 cy 1.5 = 4 cy. But then I get the feeling the ratio's will be different to that again? Or is that a crude way to tell the ratio?

Re: Newbie-

You can turn the engine by hand or starter and count engine revolutions per prop revolutions and get a pretty close guesstimate of ratio, then compare it to what Volvo puts out. For example you turn the engine twice and the prop turns about once.. that would be VP's 1.98:1 ratio.
