BE CAREFULL. GET a copy of the title, before you buy. Many are reconstructed wrecks.

Don't know what you mean by 'newer' Ski but a couple of years ago a friend bought a '99 Suburban on ebay. It had 60 some K miles on it. I flew down with him to pick it up. It was a great vehicle and we had a great trip back to the PNW in it.

Again.

GET a copy of the title, before you buy. Many are reconstructed wrecks. No problem there, just realize what you are getting.

A resto. does NOT hold the same value as an original.

Watch out for scam auctions. If they try to sell outside of eBay run like the wind.

I would never buy a 2005 on ebay. Way too many ways to get raped. Lately they've been stealing new cars, and swapping VINs with wrecked ones. Everything seems legal until a year later when the cops show up to impound your new truck. You of course get nothing in return. There was a story about this a few weeks ago on the news about someone who bought a 2005 hummer that had been stolen. They paid $50k for it fair and square and were left with nothing.

Watch out for Katrina Kars!!

Ebay seems the best place to dump them.

Be sure to get a full history from new delivery, etc.

I bought a fairly new truck from Ebay over the summer. I HIGHLY advise paying for an inspection (the link is on ebay). The inspection was about $100 but a guy completely goes over the vehicle, drives it, takes his own pictures and submits it to you in a report, first class all the way. I paid for two inspections before settling on the truck that I wanted then bought it, flew out to pick it up and drove two days to get home.

Alot of dealers are desperate to unload stock. The brand new vehicles are going at a near (not a complete loss)loss and the dealer is surrendering the holdback (3-8%) just to get his numbers up.

Used vehicles are just a question of cash flow. If a dealer got a trade real cheap then he needs to unload it fast or it just may be an old used car on the lot.

Make the dealer provide you with the carfax report (they can afford the $20) and if they are serious they will do it. If it is a GM vehicle ask for a copy of the GMVIS and delivery report on a used GM. It will give you a full history.

There are deals to be had if you are willing to travel and stick to your guns.

The Silverado SS was/is a SLOW selling hard to get rid of vehicle. You should be able to get it cheap.

I think the best way is to inspect it yourself. I onced almost bought one, it was from a "commercial reseller"- watch out of this type: they show dozens of pictures, but hide the area they don't want you to see! When I had it inspected by my trusted mechanic; it didn't pass: transmission trouble.

I've been having good lucks from private sellers locally instead; bought 3 used cars since 1995; and we still driving them today! :)

There are several sites online where you can pay a small fee and get a report on almost any "used" automobile. Have used one before and it was a great help much to my surprise.

I don't think I would buy a used one online though. To easy to get taken to the proverbial cleaners that way.
