Well it's not New-In the-Box but it sure looks like it. I restored the boat and used it for two years to prove the engine reliable and worthy of a paint job. This spring I disassembled what I could and repainted it while still on the boat. Seeing all of the beautifully restored motors shamed me into repainting mine. Comments?

I've been wondering when you were going to do that! Your boat looks so nice, that motor needed repainting! It looks awesome. I do like how you waited to see how reliable it was. Especially since working on it will no doubt scratch your new paint. I won't say how I know.;)
That motor has a really interesting look to me, very neat.....
It does look NIB!

Nicely done.
Wish I had more time/money/ room, I would love to get a couple older engines like that, it has very interesting lines, they certainly don't make them like that anymore.

jbjennings, it does like gas. I've never had anything close to compare to but everyone tells me all boat motors are thirsty. Most of the time you're running full out or towing something so it stands to reason. I use it on a small lake and it cost me $400-$500 last season for fuel and a couple jugs of oil. I can justify that as an affordable luxury. People I run into say I could probably get a used 4-stroke for it and save gas. I say I can buy a lot of gas for the cost of a 4-stroke. Besides, a newer motor would look out of place on the back of that old boat.
