There are so many headlamp bulbs to choose from these days. Can anyone recommend some nice bright white bulbs I should try for my truck?

Silver Star Ultra.About all parts stores sell them.
Expet to pay about 40 or so bucks but they are nice bright white lights.

Second vote for the Silver Star Ultra's. They really are much brighter.

And another vote for silverstar ultra's here. brightest bulbs ive found yet. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. I do botice they don't last quite as long as some other brands. I typically go through a pair every year.

As a matter of fact one of my high beams went out last night on my way home from Mohican, ill have to stop during lunch and grab a new set.

Silver Stars also, but the lamps are only part of the performance, the lens and reflector are a big part of the light output. A scratched, dirty or yellowed lens can cut a lot of the light output and oxidized reflector the same.

Another for making sure you have clear head lamp housings if they are all yellowed and beat up from road grime the best bulbs in the world will still be dim.
I have clean headlamps in all 3 of my cars and the headlight bulbs I think are original. Do bulbs last 200k and ten years ?

I use the stock bulbs and make sure they are properly adjusted. Its amazing how many people spend money on brighter bulbs, but never check the beam height.

Going to offer an alternative to the Silverstars.

I use the GE Nighthawk bulbs and have been very impressed by their performance. Much superior to the stock GM bulbs in my Montana van.

I do take the time to properly aim my bulbs and it does make a BIG difference in illuminating the proper field of view. It does no good having the light shine off to the shoulder of the road or up into the sky or worse yet, at on coming traffic

I'm liking the feedback! Sounds like I'll have to try a pair of silverstar ultra's and inspect/clean the lenses prior to installation. I already made sure they were aimed properly but brighter can be better at night up in the north country here. Hopefully it doesn't have adverse effects in the snow...gotta watch for those deer don't ya know.

You won't be disappointed with the silverstar ultras. make sure ou get the ultras tho, my autoparts store carries the standard, and the ultras. They really are brighter, and burn hotter giving a true whiter light, as opposed to the warmer yellow of standard bulbs.

Also most autopart stores will carry a headlight restoration kit with a rubbing coumpound, and an attachment for your drill to remove any yellowing, if you need that.

Report back how you like them.

I had the Silver Star Ultras in my truck....but the life of the bulb was short....just over a year....my son had them also...he got 15 months also....

I decided to try the Nighthawk Platinums....to me its a much better light...even in the rain where i found the Silverstars failed....

they cost a bit more then the silver stars..but so far going on 18 months and still working....
