Hi all

I have a 15' aluminum boat and would like to mount running lights per coast guard rule for night operation.

was planning to hook up the light's electrical directly to my troll motor battery.

what are pros and cons for doing it as a direct hook-up or is it better to have a on/off switch and in-line fuses.

any help is greatly appreciated.

regards

Jon

Re: night fishing

I can't see any con to using an on/off switch and a fuse from the battery should be considered a must, just in case a short happens. Definitely would be more convienient to have the switch at hand when you're ready to throw a line out at night, instead of fumbling with terminals at the battery.... ;)

Also, it would be a good idea to get a 3-way switch that allows for off -running lights- anchor light only- setting

Re: night fishing

Alway add an apropriate fuse in line with the equipment your using. The front light green/red is never on by itself.

Need a DPST switch.

My rocker runs the stern light in eith position and the red/green in 1 position only.
