I just ordered a pair of Nikon Action EX 10x50 binoculars. I checked them out at FleetFarm before I ordered them and in comparison to the others on display they seemed like pretty decent binoculars with good clarity and focus at all distances.

Does anyone own these and what are your thoughts on these binocs?

I work where Nikon products are sold and I am very familiar with yours. They are an excellent value; the 10x50 configuration is a great choice from an overall performance point of view; as long as you don't mind the size.

That being said; no two people's eyes are the same...and what might look great to you in a binocular might not work as well for other people. What you did was correct; check out several pair and more than likely one will shine for you.

The most challenging use of any binocular is when there is high glare; like looking over water with the sun shining toward you. (DON'T EVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN WITH ANY BINOCULAR).

Under these high flare/high glare conditions the difference between a lesser binocular and those high-priced ones starts to really stand out.

I would suggest that when you receive your pair, take them out and test them under those conditions. That will be the ultimate test to assure yourself that you have bought binoculars that will perform adequately for your application.

I have a pair of 10x40 Nikon Action and I like them. For the price and what I use them for they are good. There are much better optics out there, but I think these Nikon's are some of the best in that price range. I looked at several different models before I purchased. I really didn't notice a considerable difference in quality until I got into much higher prices.

I use mine across our lake with glare and don't have any issues with 40mm. Also low light conditions the 40mm objective is good, so I would imagine the 50 should only be better.

Well I've had a chance to use the binoculars and they work good for what I used them for as well. For a $100 pair of binoculars they are worth it. Crystal Clear images and nice focusing capabilities.
