Nissan 9.8 2-stroke telltale tube pulled off - where to reconnect?

A little boy yanked on the telltale hose and handed it to me... a short (2") piece of hose maybe 1/8" diameter.

I went to put it back, and can't figure out where it should connect. On the bottom where I thought it should go (see picture), there is a small hole, but too small I think for this piece of tubing. Maybe there was a barb fitting or something else that is now missing? How to reconnect?

Maybe it's not a big deal, and I'm just making myself worried picturing salt water spraying around inside somewhere...

You may find a bit of corroded hose barb inside the end of the hose. If the new, non-hose telltale outlet doesn't cause water to spray where you have problems, don't worry about it.

Thanks for the reply. There was no barb debris (at least by the time I got the hose...)

So, there is no matching tubing on the inside to which my short piece should connect? Just cooling water circulating on the inside? In that case, I may not need to worry as you said.

But, I will probably try to reattach the hose, if just to keep the salt water from dribbling all over. The motor is often used in short bursts as a tender, and not always rinsed off properly. I'll try the parts diagram again, see if I can locate that hose barb...

p.s. I noticed in a few of your previous posts that your business includes parts sales. It may be bad form to post links, but a hint (like the name) would be helpful... (Or a PM).

Tks.
