I'm curious....I've got a 1990 yr model 90hp Tohatsu, how reliable is the oil pump on these motors? I'd like opinions on bypassing the pump or keep using it like it is? How hard would it be to disable the pump and just start mixing the fuel/ oil? Thanks!

I'm assuming you have an M90A, right? Year is irrelevant, but model is critical. The oil mixing systems on these are extremely reliable. Nobody does a premix on these motors, though it would, in theory, be possible. One would need to plug off the oil lines to/from the oil pump, and also disable the low oil sensor.

Whip out your Factory service manual, and you can discover how to check the pump operation.

And those directions can be found in the service manual....The pumps almost never fail and there would be no reason to convert by removing the system and going to premix.
