The other model I am looking at is the Nitro Sport 189. Granted its a couple thousdand more it appears to be alot more boat than the Triumph 170 DC for the price difference. Thanks!

A lot better for skiing than the 17' poly fishing boat. However, to take full advantage of that you would want the Merc 150 XR6 upgrade, which boosts the price another $2,000. Really, this is apples vs oranges, the Nitro is simply a bigger boat. Here are some more old threads to mull over -

Some advice on a Fish and Ski Boats please!

Do you own a Nitro boat?

Kelly Cook

Thanks for the threads. They are definetly two different breeds! I will keep researching and let you know what I come up with. At this point I am thinking the Triumph would better suit my needs and the wallet!

Re: Nitro 189 Good or Bad?

I've heard some real horror stories from Nitro owners as far as quality goes. There are also a ton of very satisfied Nitro owners out there at the same time. I understand they have a serious trailer rust issue, not sure if they've corrected that.

I'd relay a very bad story of a friend of mine who bought one of the Bass Pro Shops "Tahoe" deckboats new, but I think I'll pass. Let's just say seeing his experience with that boat and BPS and their customer service convinced me to NEVER by a Nitro.
