I just got a Cobra MR f75 VHF. It is NMEA compatable. I have the cable for my VHF. but where can I get a cable to link it to my LOWRANCE LMS-339 GPS?

Can't seem to find one.

Re: NMEA GPS compatable device.

If you are asking how to accomplish a serial data connection between the NMEA-0183 interfaces on your VHF Marine Band Radio and a GPS receiver, there generally are not pre-made cables for this circuit connection. The usual method of wiring this serial data connection is to use the cables provided with each device, and join the conductors using some method of connection. Typically a terminal block is used. In some cases mating connectors are used.

On most LOWRANCE devices, there are connectors on the rear panel and an accessory cable is provided with a mating connector and a short length of cable pre-wired to the connector. The other end of the cable terminates without a connector and can be wired as desired.

On many low-cost VHF Marine Band radios there is simply a cable provided from the radio with a few feet of length, terminating in some loose conductors.

In these cables you will find the serial data communication signals you need to interconnect. The exact choice of the wiring technique is left to you.

The NMEA wires on the LMS are part of the power cable. Should be an orange and yellow wire

Did some research on that last night. Thats pretty much what I found.
I will let you know how I make out when I get the boat back from the doctor.

NMEA and NMEA 2000.
Compatable?

The VHF is just NMEA and the GPS is NMEA 2000

The GPS is both NMEA 0183 and 2000. The VHF is likely just 0183.

As someone said, the GPS 0183 connection is in the power cable.

I bought a VHF that is 2000 (Lowrance LVR-880) and the connection is much simpler.

You can't hook up the 0183 to the 2000 as they use different data rates packets etc. but you will be able to hook two pieces together using the 0183 connections.
