No acceleration under load

My 125 seems to accelerate ok with no load but when pulling a tube it won't accelerate much above 2000rpm. If I reduce the load by making a sharp turn then the rpms pick up to around 3000 and it runs fine on up to 4500. Any ideas?

Check compression. Is the only difference in load the pulling of the tube or do you have extra passengers and other stuff too?

Do the comp test like 357 suggested.
The check the spark.
Then check the linkage as someone pushes the throttle forward(motor off).
You need to spin the prop when advancing the throttle.

Check the fuel pump diaphragm.
Check the burn on the plugs.

Post the results.

Thanks for the prompt responses. Doesn't seem to be affected as badly with a load in the boat. With just a tube and a spotter the problem occurs. Have to wait til the weekend to do the checks.

Make a hub spun test on prop, seems it's on its way to full kaputland....

Happy Boating

The trigger wires, very thin and break easily.
The ends are covered in shrink wrap, the wire breaks under the wrap and the shrink holds
them in place.
Tug on each wire, see if it comes loose??

Make sure the linkage is moving as you accelerate?
The plastic connectors break and don't allow the timing to move.

Get 4 inline spark testers and hook them up and go for a ride.
Make sure all 4 have good spark.
