I have a 1991 Evinrude VRO 200 and I just lost the charging system and the tach also went on vacation, I think it's the voltage regulator. Can anyone tell me their thoughts on this and where is a good place to find a new one? Also is there any way I can bypass the voltage regulator so that I may use the boat safely until I find a new regulator, I read where it is not safe to operate the boat in this condition (chance of fire or other damage)on you're board and was just wondering if there is by chance a way to use it safely until I find a new one.
Thanks, Steve

Thanks for the quick reply! I will definately send you an e-mail to get the part I need from you, is there any way I can still use the boat as I do still have 2 days left on my vacation?
Thanks, Steve

It's probably the rectifier, not the regulator.

c/6

Hooty

Re: No Charging and no tach

I recently replaced my rectifier. It caused both
my charging system to fail and my tach to stop working. I noticed before the charging system
failure, the tach started to work intermittently.
