I have a 2001 Chap. 220SS1 with the 5.0 merc, we were on the lake Saturday and after we got gas the boat would run fine for 5min, then the engine started cuting off and going back on for a few times until it just finally died, we have the 2 battery setup, we’ve tried jump starting it but it gives nothing. The radio, horn, Depth finder, ECT works perfectly. There is no click, no nothing- dead, does anyone know what the problem could be?

I can totally see it being a cable because the volt gauge stays at 8voltz- but the radio and other stuff works.

The radio and motor run off of 2 different feeds. The gauges get power thru the 10 pin engine harness. The radio, Trim and other items normally get power from a separate feed. Check you key switch

We took the key switch to Cabela’s and the tech guy said that it was good

Could it be the alternator not putting out to charge the batteries?? I know you said you tried to jump it but that sometimes wont work with a totally dead battery

Just a thought.

If your grounds are loose, or corroded you will not be successful jumping ot either.
