Just had a rebuild on my 1989 150xp. Thought it would run great, and did for a while. Just the other day it would not plane out at full throttle. Called mechanic and he suggested I replace the sparks. Did that but no change. Today I ran a compression test. 105, 100, 100, 92, 0, 100. Not really impressed by any of the numbers, but really caught off guard by the no compression on one. Going to get with the mechanic, I think, but would like to educate myself on possibilities first. What are the possibilities on this? When I pulled the new plugs out to run the compression, the plug on the zero compression was perfectly clean, if that says anything. Would seafoaming help this problem? Any thoughts would be appreciately. Have a great 4th.

Re: No Compression One Cylinder

Zero psi is bad news. The other cylinders are fine. That is a low compression engine. A blown head gasket or broken rings usually give some (very low) compression, but zero?

I think you need to open her up and see. Don't be surprised if you find the piston broken or melted.
