As the topic says I don't get any waterbeam from the "coolingwater output". The engine is a Johnson 9.9hp -74. I have recently changed the impeller. I have only started it with waterhose connected and not in sea, can that influence? Any ideas?

Thanks in advice!

Put it in a barrel with the water above the water pump level and try it again. Very little water comes out the exhaust port when flushing hose it used. Not exactly sure why.

I tried to put it i a barrel just before I changed the impeller, then it came some water from the exhaust port but not much at all, that was the reason to why I changed the impeller. But I will try to do this also with the new impeller, maybe it doesn't work with flushing hose on those old engines? Thanks for the answer btw! :D

I have one of those and with mine it pees immediately from the telltale...but very little water from the exhaust port until after (i assume) the thermostat opens.

The '74 model will not send much water out the exhaust port until the T-stat opens in about 15 seconds. Before that you only will get a very light mist, that you can only detect when you put your hand under the exhaust hole.
