No crank no start

Ok so first things first I have a 1986 Sea Ray Seville with a 170h inboard. I just changed the ignition to pertronix ran great at home then yesterday it cranked awhile before it started. Now put it in the water and it won't start at all no spark. So I pulled it out of the water started checking for things on the trailer as we are a ways from home. Figured out no spark so I started testing for ground and voltage. Went to crank it over again to check for voltage at the pertronix and now it just clicks once then nothing Everytime you turn the key to crank. The battery has over 12 volts I just don't get it. Any help would be great we are here for the weekend without a boat at the lake no fun

I was starting to go through the check got through a couple then it wouldn't crank anymore. Thanks for the reply

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Start at the key switch,.....

With it not cranking over, need to start at the key as Bondo mentioned. Need a voltmeter to trace the voltages. Might be the key or slave solenoid

Ok so I found out the slave solenoid is working but the starter solenoid is not so I guess u need to start with that. I took it all apart and cleaned the contacts pretty good with what I had. Turned over good again for a few tries then back to the one click then nothing again

Have you run the battery down? It might need a charge or jump at this point. on top of the starting issue.

Yes that or need to clean the bat cables at both ends, most important ground connection on block. Try to look under the cable jacket looking for corrosion

Ok I'll try that too I don't have all the tools I need at the lake right now for the weekend and we are a little ways from home but thanks for all the help much appreciated
