NO FIRE

I recently bought a 65 Evinrude 40hp, I had to change the starter switch, the old switch had 5 connections for the wireing the new one only four. I got the starter; ignition; and battery wires connected to the switch, however, there are two other wires labeled "M" dont know where to connect these two wires so I left them off. I was told the motor ran good by the guy I bought it from (I trust him that it was) after changing the switch and leaving off the two wires marked "M" I get no fire to the plugs, any ideas on what these two wires go to and could this be the problem? The motor turns everything looks ok just no fire to the plugs. I also tried pulling the jerk rope still no fire. Any ideas?????

Re: NO FIRE

try unhooking the IGN wire from the switch. You may have the wrong type of switch. You need a switch that opens the circuit when in the run position.A regular car type switch will ground the circuit in the run position, Same as hitting a kill switch.Good Luck
