No fuel - 2002 Mercruiser 5.0 MPI

Hi all I have an Australian Mustang 2400 Mercruiser 5.0 MPI

176 hours ( on the ecu)

scanner


she hasn’t been started in many many months

kept on a trailer

I’ve attached an aux fuel tank

1. turn key ( no pump prime noise)

2. getting a long audible after turning motor over - and not firing up

Q. Most common cause for no fuel ?

I’ve check the 3 blade fuses - tick

haven’t checked if the relays are clicking on turn key yet

is fuel blockage an issue - should I change out the primary Screw in fuel filter ?

is this model attached to the oil pressure switch - cutting off 12v to the fuel pump?

Fuel pump is on starboard side - very tight fit ... is it an engine out job -

Obvious one is the lanyard kill switch. That being triggered will definitely see the fuel pump not prime

What is the voltage level of the battery?

Check for 12V at the main power relay when key is turned ON. Should have full time power on the Red/Purple and Pink/Green. When key is ON should see power on pin 87 Red/Black

Voltage is 12.56 on both battery’s - I’ll check for voltage following the diagram - thanks 😊

2002 is a odd cut off year for fuel and ECM system design so when possible an engine serial number will be helpful to vision your engine model...Plus do have a Bravo or Alpha stern drive?

No not on MPI systems...That's only on Carb engines.

turn key ( no pump prime noise)

2. getting a long audible after turning motor over - and not firing up
This comment tends to lean back to maybe a weak 12v+ Power ignition or ground system / Bad relay / no relay activation.
