No fuel filter or fuel/water separator????

Upon familiarizing myself with the 84' Stingray, 140 HP (181 cid) boat I just purchased last week, I discovered it doesn't have a fuel filter (unless it has the cartridge type where the fuel line screws into the carb) nor a water/fuel separator. I traced the line from the tank to the carb - nothing! Should I install one or the other? Both??
Thanks for any advice!

Hi there. It's a good idea to have a water separating fuel filter.

You should have a fuel filter in the fuel pump as well as where the fuel line goes into the carb.
