i have a 1961 18hp Johnson model FD-15. i was trying to start this motor i just rebuilt that carb. i noticed that no gas was getting to the carb. i have a pressurized tank and i prime the bulb before starting. it seems like its not getting past the fuel filter. should i start by replacing the fuel filter and if so were can i find old fuel filters for this model. the fuel filter is a 376836

looks like that model has a fuel pump..have you disconnected the fuel line from the pump to the carb, at the carb and tried pumping the bulb? you should be able to pump fuel from the tank to the carb, enough fuel so that the motor will start and run for a few seconds? if no fuel at the carb end of the hose, unlook the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump and check to see if fuel is getting that far...if so..time to check the fuel pump..if not..check fuel line all the way back to the fuel pick up in the tank.
