Motor is a 94 3HP Evinrude with self-contained tank. Spark is good, seems like fuel starvation. Fresh fuel in tank, new plugs, started once for only a few seconds, then died. Is there a primer? A fuel vent? Or any other ideas? Choke is operational, fuel petcock open.

Re: no gas

I'm not the better, so take my advice carefully... It may be your fuel pump. I had the same problem with my 9.9 1985. THey sell me a rebuild kit. It works for me... Good luck...
Steeve

I don't believe he has a fuel pump on that one. It's gravity fed isn't it?
Perhaps you're not getting adequate flow to the carb from the tank due to a clogged filter, etc. Disconnect the fuel line from the carb and see that you're actually getting something.

Typical symptoms are if you leave it for 10 or 15 minutes it'll start and run for a few seconds until it uses up all the fuel in the carb's bowl. Then another 10-15 to refill it depending on the restriction.
